The Weekender: New Year, New Illness, Same Cats

Folks, I write to you from my deathbed.

Well, not quite; but I am horribly sick. I’ve gone through boxes of tissues, and the skin around my nose is on fire. Plus, I have to breathe through my mouth from all the congestion, so I look like an obese child who just tried to complete the mile-run in gym class.

My ailments began early in the week, and cruelly teased me by receding slightly before coming back full-force on Thursday. I woke up the next morning not feeling an ounce better, and spent a Friday night in front of my television. Luckily, 7th Heaven re-runs were on, so it wasn’t all bad.

The worst part about being sick is that, unless I have a stomach bug, I want to consume everything in my kitchen. This is made worse by the fact that I’m too ill to workout. I’ve done an okay job refraining from gorging thus far, but with all the delicious recipes we’ve had this week, it’s hard to ignore my grumbling stomach.

Let’s review, shall we?

Did you take a look at my most popular 2012 recipes? Talk about a delicious year! We ended the year on the same tasty note here in the Smart Cookie Household by making a slew of awesome appetizers, one of which was those Tortellini Dippers from Friday’s post. I also made a KILLER dip, which will be up next week, homemade onion rings (pictured below; also coming soon), and everybody’s favorite Party Bread._DSC8637-3

Unfortunately, the night ended on a pretty anticlimactic note when both my parents abandoned me and went to bed, leaving me alone to watch the ball drop with my cats. That gave me an unpleasant look into my future.photo(2)

But a life with cats isn’t all bad, I suppose. Except when it comes to eating food. I’m sure fellow cat-owners can relate to this:catproblems-2

They’re worse than dogs!

Well, that’s it for now. I’ll see you guys on Monday for another mouth-watering week! In the meantime, be sure to like Smart Cookie on Facebook, subscribe to my Youtube Channel, and follow me on Twitter and Pinterest so you don’t miss a single bite.

Feel better, honey. I can totally relate to the cat owner lifestyle. My Jazz steals potato chips from my bowl. I have to hide them. It’s totally ridiculous. And they like bread. I mean, what sort of cat likes to eat bread?? My cats are too weird. :P

HaHa! Love the comic! That is exactly how we eat in my house :-) … How did I miss those penguins? They are so adorable! Going to check them out right now.

    Hope you’re feeling better soon.
