First off, I must apologize for not having a recipe today. If you’re a regular at Smart Cookie, then you know I post everyday of the week except for Saturdays. I promise I will make it up to you by posting a recipe tomorrow.
In defense of my lack of recipe today, I got a tad caught up in the commotion last night, and I didn’t have time to write a full post. Excuses, excuses. You see, I just brought home two new members of the Smart Cookie family last night.
Meet Winnie and Mina, my two little babies.

I really feel like a new mother. I’m so happy, it’s obnoxious. Ever since these two furry sisters came home, I haven’t been able to stop smiling.

Mina, the black cat, is named after the woman in Dracula. Winnie (Winifred) is named after one of the witches in Hocus Pocus. I intentionally chose Halloween-related names since it’s that time of year. My babies were born only a few weeks ago. They’re little, rambunctious balls of fire, but when they settle down, they’re the cutest darn things on the planet.
I only intended to get one kitten, but I completely fell in love with both of them, and I couldn’t bare to leave one behind. Mina and Winnie were called the “boat kittens” at the sanctuary I adopted them from because they were found under a boat with the rest of the litter. The sanctuary also located their mother, took them all in, and let momma kitty raise them. They are so unbelievably affectionate that I can hardly take it. They have stolen my heart entirely.

I’ll bring you more on Mina and Winnie in this week’s edition of the Weekender.

OMG! Babies!!! I love that you got a black cat. They get treated so badly around Halloween time.
It’s good that you got two of them. Cats work well in pairs. They can play with and groom each when no one’s around to play with them.
Oh my goodness – they are beyond adorable! I love kittens! Congrats on your new family members

Congratulations on becoming a kitty momma!… I can completely see how they both stole your heart. What a precious pair of angels!
