The Weekender: Halloween, Yoga, & an Update

I swear, these weeks get longer and longer. Seven days of failures, unnecessarily long exams, a lack of sleep, and a few meager accomplishments to give me the motivation to deal with it all. As usual, food was my ally and supporter through the ups and downs. Did you miss what I dished this week? Don’t fret!

Let’s review, shall we?

  1. Chocolate Mousse Coconut Cups
  2. Soft Pumpkin Cookies with Brown Sugar Frosting
  3. Chocolate Walnut Biscoff Bark
  4. Healthy Cookie: Mean Green Stuffed Omelet Machine
  5. Pumpkin Alfredo Tortellini

If you haven’t picked up on it yet, the pumpkin treats are rolling into Smart Cookie! Tomorrow marks the start of October, aka my favorite month of the year. I love everything about it: the mild fall weather, the comforting foods, mini candies galore, pumpkin palooza, and of course, Halloween. As much as I LOVE Christmas, Halloween is my holiday. I hope you’re ready for a Halloween extravaganza here at Smart Cookie, because this month, I am in my element.

This was a rough week as far as college goes, but I’m making some progress with my fitness. I’ve been taking this yoga-like class called Body Flow at my local gym for over a month now. About two weeks ago, I was introduced to the crow pose. Of course, my first attempt was an epic fail; no, make that my first hundred attempts. But I finally got it this week, a little accomplishment, but a confidence-booster all the same.

Wondering what’s the latest with my stray cat Thor? He’s around as always, waiting outside the door every morning for breakfast. He likes to explore the house, but he’s always too skittish to relax. Last week, we had a night of particularly bad weather when it was raining and unseasonably cold. So, instead of leaving the door cracked for Thor wile he was eating dinner like I normally would, I shut it. I knew he wouldn’t be thrilled at first, but the weather was too bad for him to be spending the night outside.

Thor got a bit anxious and wound up spending almost the entire night hiding behind my parents’ bed. At some point, I heard him scurry down the hall, and he made a nest behind the couch in the family room. He might’ve been a bit scared, but Thor can’t argue he was darn warm and comfy in his little spot. In fact, by morning he seemed pretty content. Mother Cookie was afraid he’d pee on the carpet though, so we gave him breakfast and let him leave. As the weather gets worse, I think we’ll be having more sleepovers.

Coming next week is a brand new Halloween-themed video featuring a treat inspired by one of my all-time favorite movies. Can you guess what it is?

See you on Monday!

Lucky Thor. He’ll appreciate the “sleep overs” when it’s cold and wet outside. Not surprising that he was scurrying around at night. Although I’m not a cat person, I hear they are nocturnal and come dark, they get a boost of energy.
Can’t wait to see what pumpkin-Fall flavor inspired treats you have to serve us :)
