Raise your hand if you’re obsessed with Oreos. You love Cookies and Cream, whether it be ice cream, Blizzards, McFlurries, or milkshakes. You adore Oreo Cakesters. You like a good Oreo cookie crust to cradle a pie. You wish they hadn’t discontinued Oreo O’s cereal. You take pleasure in uniting Oreos & Peanut Butter. And, when it comes down to it, you can’t get enough of plain old Oreo cookies themselves.

If you raised your hand and relate to all of those feelings of passion, this sundae is for you. It is Oreo in every way possible: Cookies & Cream ice cream topped w/ a white chocolate hot fudge reminiscent of an Oreo’s cream filling, regular hot fudge reminiscent of the chocolate cookie itself, a whole Oreo Brownie, whipped cream (just because), and, although a cherry is present, a classic Oreo cookie that serves as the real cherry on top.

Why did I build this frozen beauty? Because I am one of you. I love Oreos & anything Oreo related. You just can’t beat that classic flavor combination. And there really isn’t anything quite like the euphorically perfect combination of crunchy, chocolatey Oreo cookies and smooth, creamy vanilla ice cream. (I am now salivating.)

So, when I was considering consuming one of the tasty Oreo Brownies in my pantry, another thought struck me. Brownies and ice cream go hand-in-hand, that I know. So wouldn’t it be wonderful to make a sundae using an Oreo Brownie? Yes, yes, and yes. Wonderful it was.

This sundae is the pinnacle of Oreo sundaes. It’s heavenly, chocolatey, creamy, and so Oreo-y!

I guarantee all other sundaes will pail in comparison to this Overloaded Oreo Brownie Sundae. You see, there are three things that make this sundae sublime:

  1. Homemade toppings
  2. The unique and sweet White Chocolate Hot Fudge
  3. Three different Oreo mediums: Cookie, brownie, ice cream

Do you need anymore reasons? I thought not.

A few tips before you get cooking:

  1. I really do want you to make the homemade hot fudge sauces and whipped cream. It makes such a difference. But if you’re short on time and you just need this now, then store-bought toppings will work just fine.
  2. While you warm up the sauces to serve, let your ice cream sit out so it can soften a little. It makes it much easier to scoop.
  3. Make the sauces & whipped cream earlier in the day so they’re ready to serve when you’re ready to build your sundaes.

Overloaded Oreo Brownie Sundaes

Recipe by Colleen Bierstine

(Makes at least 4 sundaes with enough for leftovers)

Ingredients:

Directions:

1) Make the Hot Fudge Sauce:

(Recipe adapted from Paula Deen)

  • 1 3/4 cups heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, cut into small pieces
  • 2 3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a heavy bottomed saucepan over low heat, bring the cream just to a boil then add the brown sugar and stir just until it dissolves. Add small pieces of butter until mix until completely melted, then stir in the chocolate chips. Wait 3 to 5 minutes so that chocolate is very soft before folding it in with a spatula. Stir in the salt and vanilla extract and blend until well incorporated.

Let cool for 15 minutes; it will thicken as it cools. Transfer to a glass jar or tupperware container & refrigerate.

2) Make the White Chocolate Hot Fudge Sauce:

(Recipe by Colleen Bierstine, adapted from The Food Network)

  • 1 3/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup butter, cut into small pieces
  • 2 3/4 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt

In a heavy bottomed saucepan over low heat, bring the cream just to a boil then add small pieces of butter. Mix until completely melted, then stir in the white chocolate chips. Wait 3 to 5 minutes so that chocolate is very soft before folding it in with a spatula. Stir in the salt and blend until the sauce is completely smooth. Remove from heat. Let cool for 15 minutes; it will thicken as it cools. Transfer to a tupperware container or glass jar. Refrigerate.

3) Make the Whipped Cream:

  • 2 cups heavy (whipping) cream
  • 1 1/8 cups confectioners’ sugar

Beat cream and sugar in a large bowl until stiff peaks form.

4) Assemble the sundaes:

(You can really do this in any order to make it look prettier. Here’s a suggested building method.)

  1. Heat both fudge sauces in microwave for 20 seconds or until warm but not hot. Stir.
  2. Place the Oreo Brownie in the bottom of a bowl. Spoon 1-3 scoops of ice cream on top of brownie.
  3. Top ice cream with a generous dollop of whipped cream. Drizzle desired amount of both fudge sauces over whipped cream.
  4. Repeat with all four sundaes.
  5. Top each sundae with a cherry & Oreo cookie and go to town!

Note: Extra sauce can be stored in the fridge in a sealed container for up to a week. Whipped cream can be stored in fridge for up to four days (you will need to give it a little mixing). Heat the fudge sauces in the microwave for 20 seconds or until warm before serving.

That sundae looks so good it’s INSANE. It wouldn’t last ten seconds anywhere near me, that’s for sure. I’m forever an Oreo lover, you’re torturing me! Plus, that white chocolate hot fudge sauce sounds to-die-for.

This is one of those sweet indulgences that I save for a special day. I do not think ice cream is reserved for summer-hard refrain from it even in the summer. Love the ingredients in this ice cream treat-Yum!
